Custom Fit Golf Clubs

Below we have listed our ‘essentials’ of club fitting; these we believe combine to make the perfect set of clubs for any golfer of any playing ability.

Clubhead
We have access to a huge array of designs of iron and wood heads. This gives a wonderful opportunity to select a clubhead that appeals to the player (giving confidence), at the same time ensuring that it has the correct design and weight distribution to match the player’s needs. This includes loft, (the single most important factor determining trajectory), to enable the player to achieve optimum flight when combining loft and design. Too often this is not an option when buying off the rack clubs.
With woods, a club head with the correct design, loft and face angle (this is how open or closed in degrees the face of the club is) will help the player achieve a much straighter shot. Once again, this is not an option with most off the rack clubs.

Shaft
Probably the most important part of the club! The correct shaft will match the swing speed of the player and their individual tendencies, helping to present powerful and square clubface at impact. We have access to over 2000 golf shafts and the knowledge to fit the perfect shaft to a player. Choosing the correct flex, weight, kick point and torque helps players achieve their full potential and allows players to choose the feel that they like.

Length
As a golf club gets longer in turn it gets harder to hit on centre, this must be kept upper most in mind when length fitting (regardless of height). It is our aim to fit the longest length that the player can consistently control. Too long and miss hits will certainly result.

I would like to have a pound for every conversation about customers’ long irons being inconsistent and on testing find they are too long for them!

Too short a length and a loss of distance may occur, due to the lesser clubhead speed being achieved. We feel this finding is critical to the player’s future game and, once again, what options are there off the rack? – None!

Lie
The lie angle of a golf club is measured between the shaft’s centre line and the centre sole of a clubhead. It is the single most important aspect about the iron club that dictates the ball’s direction. If the lie of a club is too upright, the player will have a tendency to hook or pull their shots. If the lie is too flat the tendency will be to slice or push. The test for the correctness of this specification can only be found while actually hitting balls, certainly not just in the address position. To only assess how a clubhead sits can give a false reading but, sadly, so many players still buy out of catalogues or in high street store off the rack – what a waste of money!

Grip Size
Certainly the majority of golfers are using the wrong size grips on their clubs, causing directional and feel problems. We ensure that your grips fit your hands and suit your feel requirements.

Set Make Up
This is the number of clubs that are going to be carried and what the set will consist of. This is one of the most advantageous parts of custom fitting, this is real shot reducer using the preferred types and numbers of clubs will stop what we call the ‘bogey clubs’ getting into the bag. Whether your longer shot will be taken care of with woods only or will long irons be used? Also, the set make-up must suit the golf course you regularly play. If you find you often have to hit long irons on to greens that are guarded at the front by bunkers or water, would not a seven wood do a better job? Or around the greens, do you find when chipping you need to stop the ball quicker, in which case would a lob wedge’s loft be the answer?

Price
I am pleased to say the most surprising aspect about custom fit is they cost less. Yes – LESS. By using the leading component companies to purchase heads, shafts and grips that are suitable to you, you can have all the needed specifications required to help you to play your best and save money too.
